Would any elected official be willing to take on the role of walking in a homeless persons shoes with no access to banks or support? Living on the street, in a box not knowing where your next meal is coming from. I want to know why the city who says they want to help people don't know how to or when they do very little I think this would open their eyes. I"am not trying to be rude this is a civil question.

Angel, as an admin, I did not take that question as rude but as a very insightful question. I feel too many of our elected officials sweep the homeless in this county under the rug and opt to not even see they are a part of our society. It is heartbreaking to see these human beings cast off like they don't exist and then our officials turn around and use facilities and buildings that would lend themselves well to a homeless facility as offices instead. Why are we doing all this shuffling around of offices from downtown to the country when we (the county) have plenty of facilities in the downtown area that could be used for this purpose? I just don't understand why we, the county that is suppose to be "someplace special" can't make it truly special by helping ALL of those in our community, not just the ones who have connections to the powers that be.

this is a good ? and it goes deep into the fiber of who really cares. I am not an elected official at this point but if I were I would take on this challenge. you must know though that I would probably have an advantage, I've been there. know the hunger pangs and foul weather in the open, no shelter. good luck trying to get sitting elected officials to jump on board.

Howard, other conversations in other chat rooms I am involved in have had it said they only wish you were already an elected officials and I must concur. You seem to have a firm hold on what is real and what is needed. I wish you all the luck and hope you win your bid.

estherlike, Thank you for the reply I have so many ideas to help the people of ashland who need food and shelter. One place in mind is the empty salvation army building oh the possiblities I have and the dreams to put that building to wonderful use for the needy. I just wish I had the money and pull in this town to get it going before the hoildays Oh to make a lot of people know someone out there cares!
