>:(As though the Commissioners have not made it difficult enough, the cuts to department budgets continue. In the latest round it appears the county residents may lose another service, this time our beloved D.A.R.E. program maybe in jeopordy. This is another "non-mandated" program much like Heartland Home. At what point the cuts to services will stop is anyone's guess.

Well it seems as though city government may not be any better than county government...word has it that in todays city budget meeting that they will cut funding to our 911 center...hope you don't have an emergency between the hours of 12:00 am & 8:00 am because there will be 2 people handling county fire & squads, city fire & squads, police and sheriffs calls for service Glad I don't work there...oh the liability

How very interesting!! Not a single word about the city wanting their money returned appeared in the paper today.

It was a closed meeting (not public) between four union reps, the mayor and the interim finance director. At this point, we haven't been able to verify on the record anything discussed at the meeting. There's a council meeting Tuesday, so we may find out more there.

And they discussed the city budget-bet union people were fire fighters and cops-makes sense-we are looking at how the COUNTY COMMISSIONERS have failed to fulfill yet another bit a business. Now they're hiding money from the city!!! Wonder if their allocated money to the 911 center has been added to the general fund since ummmmmm...
