According to the Breaking News on the TG, Judge Woodward has agreed to abide by the budget cuts requested by the Commissioners after she saw what the other departments took in the way of cuts. She has decided to use the "Special Projects" fund that had been set up earlier this year to help offset the budget cuts. This fund was originally intended for use for a new computer system.

Although I do understand what Judge Woodward did with conceding to the budget cuts from the Commissioners, this only begs the question, why did the Commissioners not open up the line of communications with the Judge sooner, at least at the point they knew there was a problem. Another question is, could this whole situation have been avoided had the "envelope" handing out of cuts been done publicly instead? If Judge Woodward knew at the time what other departments where being asked to cut and had had the chance in that meeting to discuss and be told that should a department with the legal right to refuse the cuts do so the impact it would have on other departments, could this have had a much less costly ending? Just some food for thought.

Gee! Estherlike,
Your post sounds like, had everyone known what "cuts" were in the envelopes, all the department heads could have sat down around a table and discussed what cuts they could absorb while others could say:"I can cut this so you don't have to cut that." WOW! working together to solve the problems. NAH our Commissioners don't seem to see the advantage of all coming together and working out the problem - just hand out envelopes and watch the fight that ensues then say we did our job and they are the problem. Estherlike, we need you and others that think your way on that Board!!!
