There is gossip around the County that Ted Daniels has given the Ashland County Commissioners the emails of those who have blogged on the TG sight. Has anyone else heard this or have first hand about this?

:oWOW!! That is interesting. No wonder there is so much more in the TG than is ever said at meetings. Like I said, be careful.

???If everyone remembers, in an editorial Mr. Daniels had stated he had considered ousting the posters on the TG (not verbatim but I am sure you could do a search and find the exact terminology). Do you think it is possible that he made a choice to semi-oust the posters? In other words, is it possible he decided to oust them only to certain persons and not to the general public? If so, this would explain how certain people in certain circles have knowledge of who has posted what on the TG.
Besides, I like this forum better anyways. You have a spell checker so you don't go back and redo posts.

if Daniels is giving out that information, its a violation of the TG privacy policy they posted on thier website. The TG and Daniels could be sued.

That maybe possible that they could be sued, the problem is getting the proof. If he gave that information to anyone either verbally or written, I doubt that anyone would turn on Daniels and say that is how they got it. To sue for a violation like that you would have to be able to proof it. At least on this forum I don't have to worry about being "ousted".

I have heard this also and from a person who was addressed in a meeting in such a way as to think that person knew they had mentioned it on the TG blog. If I do blog on the TG, it is with the feeling that an employee is reading it and forwarding it to others with my name. This way I can be extremely careful of what I say. This is too bad because I felt the TG blog was a good thing for our community. This website is what I wanted the TG to be - a place where all could state their thoughts without being "fronted out" because someone disagreed with them. Let the citizenry state their thoughts and opinions because they will enrich us and make things better in this County!!!

I promise if I ever choose to change our policy on anonymous postings on www.times-gazette.com, I will have the courtesy of "outing" you all on this site first and not at the annual meeting of the Oakbrook Condo Assoc. I will even identify the individual who is carrying on a conversation with herself with two different identities. The only person "outed" on the T-G site is an individual who was posing as an Ashland City council member. Trust me, it's not hard to figure out anonymous posters when they make similar statements in public meetings or other public forums. Not afraid to sign my name, Ted Daniels

The whole intention of the forum on this web site is for the citizens of Ashland County, to ask questions and voice their opinions. It is done in a civilized way without the fear of being publicly “fronted out” or ridiculed. This site does not care about your identity and that is why you may post as a guest and not register – be completely anonymous.
Please rest assured posters to this forum will not be “fronted out” or identified. This forum is for the citizens of Ashland County to speak their mind. If you are still concerned, which I can understand, then simply sign on as guest and blog – as many do now.
The only way Mr. Daniels, of the Times Gazette, could identify you is if you would use the same screen name on both forums or he took the extreme amount of time to look for similarities of writing styles but even then he can not be 100% sure because he would not have access to both forums and you do not have to register to blog on this site.

You are absolutely correct, Gunny. The identity of posters to this forum is not available to Mr. Daniels or anyone else. We have many who have registered and that is fine, your identity is safe. Please understand we do not have any more control over what Mr. Daniels decides to post than anyone else and we will not ban persons from this site for stating their opinion. This is YOUR forum, not ours. We only maintain it for your use.

This site has been good for several things: 1) information has been exchanged; 2) questions asked and answered; 3) and false statements have been researched and proven such as have true statements. A saying I have remembered for many years goes as such: the person who is losing the argument strikes the first blow. My question to Mr. Daniels is simply why couldn't he have just posted that this statement was false and the TG will never "out" anyone according to their policy. The way he stated his post, I am a bit shy to post on the TG again. I enjoyed posting there and learned quite a bit from fellow posters - even when it became a bit personal.

henry, I am glad you like the site and I hope you will join in the conversation(s). This site is also full of good information the public normally can't get because they work the same hours as the County Departments are open. This site is all about people being able speak their minds and ask questions plus be intelligently informed - welcome aboard!

am wondering if anyone else heard the news about tbe sheriff's department losing their bid for a 911 grant. Evidently too many participants were involved that cut off our sheriff's race for the grant . This will happen in more than one case,I am sure.

From what I heard this was on WNCO Radio though can not verify that at this time. But several others heard the news on WNCO of this same nature. According to the website that is issuing the grants the annoucements won't be made until the 6th at 11AM

;DYou are very welcome, henry. We do try to get to the request as quickly as possible. As soon as we have what the lottery income was for a comparison on what the percentages are we will post that as well in the Ohio Lottery section. This is what we were able to get right now. The rest is on its way.
