In the meeting held Monday, May 11, 2009, it was brought up about possibly selling Heartland Home. Consider the fact that this would have to be done by public auction or highest bidder public bidding. Either way, anyone that would be interested in purchasing this building needs to be aware that, according to the discussion at the Planning Commission meeting on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, in order to sell this building, the septic or sewer system and water system that are currently tied to the Career Center would need to be separated and the building that is now Heartland Home would have to have its own septic/sewer and water systems. The cost of this could be daunting and any prospective buyer should be made aware of this. If this is not published with the bid article, we need to make sure it is brought out prior to anyone placing bids. You can verify this information by way of the article in today's Times-Gazette regarding the variance for Rodger Kaufman that was heard at the Planning Commission meeting.

Heard today that the Health Dept., Extension Office, and nearly all the offices in the Courthouse are going to be moving out to Heartland Home. Anyone else heard anything about this???

The commissioners better look at the ORC before they plan to move any county offices into Heartland Home! According to the ORC, there are many offices that must remain in the within Ashland City limits, and fewer that could be moved to Heartland Home! Anyone want to guess the cost of keeping HH open for a few offices, by the time the insurance, heating, lighting, and upkeep on the building is going to cost per year? While our county residents who may need the services of a County Home someday will be out of luck! Typical thinking on the part of the three who think they are top dogs!!

A friend of mine was told by a former elected official, before Heartland Home was closed, that it was time for the County to get out of the County Home business.
