>:(Even though I am not in the Hillsdale district, this is ridiculous that they just keep putting levies on the ballot. We are already taxed enough and the elderly can ill afford to be taxed any more. Actually, I don't think any of us can afford any more. I realize that the buildings are old, but when we give them the levies they don't build reasonable buildings, they build things that rival the taj-mahal and we don't need that. I hope I don't offend anybody, but enough is enough.

Many times there just is not any or enough transparency in school issues - even though those in charge say there is. Hillsdale seems to a great example of this only eclipsed by Ashland City Schools.

::)How right you are gunny. I am so tired of levies being put on the ballot saying one thing and they do something else, for instance the so called "Counsel On Aging" levy that was not what it was at all. So what guarantee do we have that this will go for what they say? The "Senior Citizen Levy" in 2007 sure didn't.

Seems like the Ashland Board of Education just can't seem to get it together! Now they want to close Lincoln school which has had dedicated teachers and administrators that really care about the children and they do a good job, just look at the scores....highest in the city, correct? Take the children out of their element and transplant them to area that is strange and may upset the applecart for them, or is this what the Supt. would like to see because that being the oldest school with the best scores, does this make the other schools look not so good? Bet they wouldn't send kids from another school to Lincoln that might really make the Board look like they didn't know what they were doing! Levies, levies, and give them more money so they can spend, spend and spend more! Why not keep the schools as they are and make sure the kids have the books they need, and take more interest in their education than trying to make the Board and Supt. look like they are doing something!!

::)I am not from Ashland County but from Medina County and I can tell you from experience that if you guys don't get a handle on this now you never will. The entire county needs to get involved with what you are doing and get behind you. I have a friend involved with your group and if they are involved then you guys have to be top notch.

:oJust amazing that a guest from another county can see we are in trouble but our own Commissioners can't. Does this tell you anything? The Commissioners wouldn't put a levy on the ballot for Heartland Home because they didn't want to compete with the schools!!! WOW!!! We should have seen the levies coming hot and heavy when this comment was made but I think we were all to shocked to think about it or put it together. I guess we need to be on our toes because these Commissioners are sure not looking out for us.

>:(And they keep coming!!! There are more school levies on this ballot than can be believed. In these economic times, do they really think any of us can afford more taxes? And the problem is once they go on, they never come off. I can't believe that school systems such as Mapleton think they can get an income tax levy passed 6 months after a property tax failed!!! Let's get out in droves and shoot these levies down. They don't need more money until they can show they are able to be responsible for the money they already get.

:oFor you folks in Hillsdale School District, you have another levy in a special election coming up in August. In a time when the county is cutting budgets, services and people, do they really think we can afford more taxes on our homes?
