Has anyone heard what the former Heartland Home building is now going to be used for? I heard via the grapevine that the Health Dept., Extension Office, and nearly all the offices in the Courthouse are moving out there. This was from a reliable source. Anyone else heard anything?

I heard the same thing. The commissioners seem to think that the public forgot what happened at Heartland Home and it is time to move on with the building. I also understand that this is not to go out to the public, if so, people will not have a job (the one who leaks). Talk about being dirty. Does anyone remember when Mike stated in a meeting (before the closing) that they would be using Heartland Home for offices? Ring a bell? Yes, Edwards was right, the writing was on the wall well before the closing. Shame on them (the commissioners) moving the residents out of their home to move in offices.

I was at the meeting when Mike said that. I hope that whoever leaks will not get caught. I heard it while in the courthouse last week. When do they think they will let the public know - when all the offices are already moved?

I see that many are reading these blogs. Many things have come out that were being hidden and need to become public. I am going to ask people to trust the administration of this website and give information you know as a guest and not have your name exposed. This appears to be the only way to hold the Commissioners responsible for their actions. There are people on this website that will do the research and digging and bring the hard evidence to light. They just need to know what they need to dig for.

I heard from a county employee that the offices are already being assigned their locations in the building. Sounds like a done deal to me.

All of the "rumors" of offices moving into Heartland Home are true. Department heads have been taken out and told to pick which space they wanted for their offices and many have done so. According to the meeting held on June 25 there will be a press release on Monday June 29 so watch for it in the newspaper on Tuesday. Also at the meeting our County Coroner released the information that so far this year there have been 4 autopsies that SHOULD have been performed that were NOT because he was out of money in his autopsy fund. HOW PATHETIC!!!
The site is being updated this weekend with a pdf of the list of investments held by Ashland County. The Commissioners just cut $400,000 from the department budgets but at the same time we have close to $2 million maturing in Cd's this year. One of $500,000 matured in May, another in the same amount June 11 and there are more maturing in July, August and December. Keep an eye on the website so you see it for yourself. It is sickening that they are cutting budgets when we could cash out a couple of the maturing Cd's and make it through this.

You are right, the commissioners have to go!! How much more damage are the commissioners going to do before they totally destroy the county?

>:(At the rate it is going, the county will be broke by the end of the year. According to the meeting on June 25, the county had $272,000 in it's account as of June 12 but the Auditor couldn't pay any bills because there was a $250,000 payroll due on June 19. By my calculations, that leaves $22,000 in the account for the county. Considering it is now the end of June and most, if not all, property taxes have already been paid, where is the rest of the money for the rest of the year going to come from?

>:(At yesterday's meeting (July 2) those in attendance were told that as June 30 the County General Fund was $258,000 with a payroll of $250,000 due July 2. That leaves $8,000 to run this county. Have you had enough yet? As of June 30 the county has a collective total of $27 million in all accounts. Keep in mind that $9 million of this is in Cd's for investment. We are told that not all this $9 million is County General but is a collective total of ALL county departments. I have no problem understanding that, what I don't understand is why the departments that are taking cuts are not given the choice of withdrawing their funds from these investments. According to the latest figures, Dale-Roy has over $4 million in their account while the rest of the county is edging toward the edge of the cliff.
These records should be up on the website soon. You can look at them and decide for yourself.

The blame game continues with Judge Woodward's order to stop more cuts in her department. The Commissioners are now pointing fingers at her and saying others will take deeper cuts because of her actions. A person blogged the TG this morning and seemed to side with the Commissioners. If anyone has truthful information that needs to get out please post it here so the Citizens of Ashland can see and understand it. These three are just more than I can handle.

There is audio posted on the www.caofac.org website of today's Commissioners Meeting. Have a listen. They're talking about installing some green energy options, when this county can least afford it. I'm all for going green. But until this county brings back its recycling program, I hardly think we need to be shelling out general funds on a 50% grant, when it's going to be hooked up to the Career Center only.

;DGuest, I bet you're right!!! And it is ALL backed up by the audio that can be heard on the website. Not only that, the website posted to get the truth about the grant only shows the lack of research done by those is charge in this county.

I listened to the audio of the Commissioners meeting last night. It appears that the Career Center was not asked before they opened their mouth about joining this green thing with this institution. I will call the Superintendent and ask about it but will not be surprised if he learned about it just like the rest of us have.

Queer just came on board in January so we have 3 and 1/2 years left as does Welch. Edwards term is up, I believe, next year. However, the only way to get them out sooner is to sign the petition for removal of office and vote them out !!!! I think it very interesting and I am also very thankful for those who record the Commissioner meetings and put them on this site because it opens the citizens eyes to their lies and missteps. Of coarse this website is probably a poison to Welch like like the TG blog and heroin!!!! I read the TG article and listened to the recording of the Commissioners meeting, and am not sure the TG reporter heard the same meeting that I did!!!

???First, pssed off, I have attended near every meeting of the Commissioners and never heard anything but something along these lines: "We can't put a levy on the ballot because the monies will not come through in time to help". I really fail to see the "Transparency In Government" that Ms. Queer based her campaign on. Second, Gunny, if I remember correctly, Mr. Welch based his analogy on that the posters on the TG were running on rumor not fact. If he finds this website to poison then he needs to think harder before he makes comments because this website is based on PURE FACT (with the exception of the forum which happens to be the opinions of the people they are SUPPOSE to be serving)!!! All the documents and audio are there for the people of Ashland County to see and decide for themselves. There is no rumor on the website, only cold, hard fact and the documents that back it all up.

estherlike,
You are correct as this website has been a God send to the people of this County to see what is going on. He might find this to be poison because of the garbage that is being dug up that they thought had long been buried.

I just finished listening to the Commissioners meeting. WOW! outside legal council for $5,000.00 we don't have and President Edwards saying they have always had cooperation from the departments? Maybe their cooperation is from the storied tales of Lyndon B. Johnson where he would grab a person by the lapels of their coat and not release until the agreed with him. Then he would mentioned how great it was to work together. I am still curious about Queer abstaining from the veterans services votes - what got me curious was when she mentioned on advice or opinion from the Prosecuting attorney - WHY?

:oThe newest meeting audio is now available on the website. This is from the meeting on 7-29-09 for amended budget appropriations and the meeting with the Board of Elections requesting funding be restored to their department.
Also added today is the document to show how Medina County handled their Judge issuing the same type of order as Judge Woodward. As you will see, Medina County found a way to solve the situation without it costing their taxpayers $5,000.00. Take a look and see for yourself.

???I am curious, did some checking on County Commissioners Association of Ohio (www.ccao.org) website and found that in addition to serving as County Commissioner and all the other committees and memberships here in Ashland County Barb Queer also serves on the CCAO Committee for Government and Operations while Kim Edwards serves on the Board of Trustees for CCAO, as a Committee Member on Agricultural & Rural Affairs Committee and as a member of the County & Local Government Reform & Collaboration Task Force. How in the world are they earning their pay here in Ashland County and serving on all these Committees with an organization out of Columbus? No wonder the travel expenses get to be so much, that is until they started paying for their own travel. These Committee commitments are for the 2009 membership of CCAO. Remember, the taxpayers of Ashland County paid almost $7000 for the membership fee for these two to serve on these boards.
