estherlike, a few days ago I had roast duck, yesterday was roasted turkey breast, today I would like to thank you for the roasted "crow". as I can only eat a small amount, reason coming, I will be the first to admit an error in my post. I have had a couple of conversations with elected city officials, one being this afternoon, there are "a couple or three city employees in the combined health departments", they will be located outside of corporate limits in the "new" health dept. building. as this is contractural with the county that is what is happening, that is the contract that I will ask for a copy of. I was told that this contract will come up at the next council meeting, it does need to be addressed. the city, so I was told, pays the biggest portion of the health dept. funding because the major portion of the recipients of this dept. are logically city residents, makes sense to me, it is more local to city residents. another reason that I can only munch a small portion of crow is, nobody knows when, how or where this one day a week clinic will take place, there is nothing in writing . the move to 60 takes away the centeral location for "city" residents and I'm sure makes it tougher for some county residents, all of this needs addressed.

Howard, according to the Commissioners meeting today, you are correct, there appears to be some discussion going on as to whether or not the City Health Department will be moving to Rt 60. Listen to the meeting on our website, www.caofac.org

cough-cough, sniff, ah-choo, yeah don't feel up to par. I will never play the "I told you so" but will always eat crow when I have to. I will pursue the end to my questions until fully satisfied and cannot get any further. as I am still waiting for a call back from at least one county commissioner I have made other inquiries about this matter, now I am waiting to see the contract between the county and city health departments. the more officials that I talk to the more info that I seem to get in drips, drips are fine because they eventualy fill the cup. today a city resident called me for any info I might have and could only say when the beans are spilled then all will know, I'm starting to think our elected officials want to just let this end up as water under the bridge, you know , go with the flow.

still a little crappy feeling but, the city officials that "agreed " to move with the county health dept. to 60, as Barb Queer told me, were the mayor, council at large, and "maybe Paul Wertz", adding not sure if Paul was at the meeting. this meeting took place "a while ago, around spring", again per B.Q. this was not a public meeting and that is what bothers me the most, two elected city officials made this decision behind closed doors. I will say that there is a lot involved in this matter that isn't being said or put to the public opinion but there are probably some logistics that we as the taxpayers just can't fathom(RIGHT). I know the city can save some money, if not in the long run, by utilizing their own space for health department, we pay $16,000 yearly in rent, but while sitting in the finance office going over O.R.C. with the finance director we found that the city employees could be compensated for travel expenses outside of the health district, payed to drive to and from work. who is paying this(?) county or city? oh so much to look at and boggle the mind.

I hope they don't move the City Health Dept with the County. This would only be more costly to the city residents and the city budget. If the county wants to move the rest of the Health Dept, let them, leave the nurses and the rest of the department that city residents use frequently alone and where it is. This is the best thing for the residents of this county I believe. Loundonville already hosts a satellite office once a week to service that section of the county, leave the rest where it is.

As we can all see, they indeed moved both health departments and now have a parking issue. They have to use shuttles from the Career Center to shuttle people to the health department during the flu shot clinics. Smart move people. Just some more of our county dollars down the drain.
And the shifting isn't finished. Remember, there are a number of offices still at the courthouse that have to be moved to allow for the security required. We will have to see how the new judge handles things.

Trust me, the new judge doesn't care about security.
